A Chinese vinyl flooring company will build its first U.S. production plant in Dalton, Georgia, and expects to begin producing luxury vinyl tile products by this fall.

Novalis Innovative Flooring, which began in Hong Kong, China 1984 and now operates in over 50 countries around the globe, announced plans to construct a $30 million production facility and hire at least 120 persons. The new plant will be built adjacent to Novalis' newly opened North American headquarters and innovation center.

Company officials said the new plant will be designed to use advanced technologies to make rigid core LVT and reflects the continued expansion of hard floor surfaces even in a city long known as America's Carpet Capital.

"This investment by Novalis is yet another testament to our state's workforce from a company that already knows it can count on Georgians to provide quality for its customers," Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said in announcing the Novalis' investment. "I'm very excited to see Novalis double down on its commitment to Dalton and Whitfield Counties."

Novalis sells its products in over 50 countries across six continents.

"Our decision to open a manufacturing facility in Dalton is reflective of the journey of our brand and our commitment to be closely connected to our customers,' John Wu, president and CEO of Novalis, said in a statement."This new location enables us to better service our customers while also helping to grow and support a community rich in the history of flooring manufacturing."
