One of America's biggest family-owned construction supply firms has more than doubled its Chattanooga operations by moving into a new and larger warehouse and sales office as an anchor in a new 18-acre commercial development near Bonny Oaks Drive and Highway 153.

Lansing Building Product, which operated an 18,000-square-foot warehouse store at 6233 Air Park Drive for the past 23 years, moved last month into most of a newly built 60,000-square-foot facility owned by Pointe Commercial Real Estate (PCRE) along a new private Elwood Lane erected off of Bonny Oaks Drive just west of the Bonny Oaks Industrial Park. Lansing is occupying 42,000 square feet of the facility.

"This new location is centrally located and it allows us to double our inventory and add some new patio products," said Rhys Otting, branch manager for the 20-employee facility Lansing operates in Chattanooga. "Our business has grown by about 50% over the past five years and this new warehouse will help with our future growth."

Lansing Building Products, a privately held building supply firm based in Richmond, Virginia, began in 1955 and now operates 77 locations in 25 states with more than 900 employees nationwide. The company's products include siding, trim, gutters, windows, decking, tools, equipment, railing, columns, doors and accessories.

The new space for Lansing was developed and constructed by PCRE's sister companies, Pointe Property Group and Pointe General Contractors, and provides warehouse and office space with high ceilings, truck dock high doors, ground level drive-in doors and an ESFR sprinkler system.

"We've got another 18,000 square feet of this building to lease and we have a couple of other lots for other potential development," said Russell Elliott, the managing broker for PCRE.

Elliott said Pointe Properties acquired the site more than a decade ago "and we believe now is an opportune time for development" with industrial and warehouse space in relatively limited supply in Chattanooga.

"This property is well located just off Highway 153 and a few miles from Volkswagen and the other companies in the Enterprise South and Bonny Oaks industrial parks," he said.

Founded in 2015 Pointe Commercial Real Estate is an integrated commercial real estate brokerage firm that represents and consults with investors, property owners, and tenants in the Chattanooga area.
