Joe Hollis, Herbert Thornbury join McMahan Law Firm

Attorneys Brent Burks and James Kennamer of the McMahan Law Firm welcome Joe Hollis and Herbert Thornbury to the team.

Hollis received his law degree from Mercer University and has practiced in civil litigation for 35 years representing plaintiffs as well as defendants in the areas of personal injury, auto accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, trucking accidents and general liability. He is also a Rule 31 General Civil Listed Mediator as authorized by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission established by the Tennessee Supreme Court. His prior experience in providing defense service to insurance companies and their insureds provides valuable insight in representing individuals with claims against insurance companies.

Thornbury comes to McMahan Law Firm from Grant Konvalinka & Harrison, P.C. He brings decades of experience in personal injury and workers comp. Thornbury is a board certified trial specialist with years of experience helping victims of injury and their families get the justice they deserve. A graduate of The University of Tennessee College of Law, Thornbury is not only a member of countless professional organizations, but also a military veteran with years of experience in teaching business law.

 

Millennium Bank names Brett Johnson as risk officer

Brett Johnson has been named chief risk officer and executive vice president of Millennium Bank in Chattanooga. Johnson will oversee risk management operations at the bank's five locations throughout Hamilton County and five additional locations in Lake City, Gainesville and Ocala, Florida.

Johnson has worked for 13 years as a commissioned risk examiner with both the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Georgia Banking Departments. He also served as a lender, factoring company manager, special assets officer and a loan review officer. His banking experience in large, regional and community banks includes First Tennessee Bank, the former Cornerstone Community Bank, National Cooperative Bank in Washington, D.C., and Fuji Bank in Atlanta.

Jan McCormick, Lynn Mucciano named to key roles at Vision Hospitality

Mucciano joins Vision most recently from Maverick Hotels and Restaurants, a startup hotel and restaurant developer. Her accomplishments there included unprecedented growth — ending 2019 with nine open hotels, one destination restaurant, Offshore- Navy Pier the Guinness Book of World Records largest rooftop bar, and six hotels in the development pipeline. In addition to national brand experience with Marriott and Hilton during her tenure with TPG and Turnberry Associates, Mucciano's background includes extensive experience with mixed use development, dedicated to restoring, improving and reinventing historic neighborhoods in New York City's Soho, South Beach as well as luxury retreats in the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Mucciano is a skilled expert in formulating winning business plans that identify opportunities for accelerated growth, and an established record for building and retaining highly motivated sales teams.

Vision Hospitality Group, Inc. has named Jan McCormick Regional Vice President of Operations where he oversees Vision's Nashville area hotels.

McCormick previously worked with Davidson Hotels, but his extensive background also includes key positions with Benchmark Global Hospitality, Gemstone Hotels and Resorts, and Prism Hotels and Resorts.

Erlanger adds Ryan Voskuil as orthopaedic oncologist

Erlanger Orthopaedic Institute has added adult and pediatric orthopaedic oncologist Ryan Voskuil, M.D., to its team.

As a former Erlanger orthopaedic surgery resident affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga, Voskuil has returned to Erlanger as the region's only adult and pediatric fellowship-trained orthopaedic oncologist. In his new role, Voskuil will create the region's first dedicated sarcoma team and bring orthopaedic oncology principles to the management of metastatic bone disease and benign conditions of the musculoskeletal system.

"Dr. Voskuil's skills and expertise in orthopaedic oncology will be a great asset to the Erlanger Orthopaedic Institute and the region we serve," said Mark G. Freeman, medical director for the Erlanger Orthopaedic Institute. "Patients of all ages with bone or soft tissue tumors, whether benign, primary malignancies or metastatic cancer, will no longer have to travel out of town for the best surgical care. This has never before been available to our region and will decrease, or maybe even eliminate, travel for the treatment of pediatric and adult tumor patients."

Voskuil attended the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston before completing his orthopaedic surgical residency in Chattanooga, where he developed skills in fracture care, joint replacement, arthroscopy and care for many other common orthopaedic problems.

 

Kimberly Lawrence joins HHM as tax director

HHM Certified Public Accountants, a full-service CPA and consulting firm with locations in Chattanooga and Memphis, has added Kimberly Lawrence to its Chattanooga office as tax director.

Lawrence brings more than 30 years of experience to the firm's tax practice. Lawrence will advise clients in the areas of tax compliance, business and individual tax planning, and organizational restructuring. Prior to joining HHM, Lawrence was a shareholder with a regional firm where her areas of emphasis included multi-family and commercial real estate, partnership structuring, like kind exchanges, and high net worth individuals.

Lawrence is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, having served as president and in several other board and committee roles, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Chattanooga Tax Practitioners, and Chattanooga Women's Leadership Institute. She also presents on tax topics to professional and community organizations.

Lawrence has been very involved in supporting non-profit organizations in our community including Scenic City Optimist Club, United Way and the Ronald McDonald House. Girls Inc. of Chattanooga has been the closest to her heart over the years, having served on the board of directors and finance committee for more than 10 years.
