Food City officials announced today the grocer plans to close its 4011 Brainerd Road store in September, 2018. The store was photographed on August 15, 2018.

Food City will open a new supermarket in Etowah, Tennessee, on Wednesday as it replaces an older store on U.S. 411-North that was closed earlier this year to make way for construction of the new site.

"The residents of Etowah have certainly been supportive of our company and we're excited to provide our valued customers with a new larger, state-of-the-art Food City," said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

The new location, which company officials said is about 30% bigger than the old store it replaces, includes an in-store bakery/deli with a salad bar, large cafe seating area and pizzeria.

Also included are full-service meat and seafood departments along with expanded grocery, frozen food and produce offerings with a large selection of gourmet, international and specialty items, the company said.

A Food City pharmacy provides a range of services, including immunizations, text notifications, prescription call reminders, free membership to the Food City Pharmacy Wellness Club and is equipped with a convenient exterior walk-up window, according to the grocer.

Rapid checkout at the store is provided by five traditional check-out lanes and four self-checkouts. Customers can also take advantage of GoCart curbside pick-up and same-day home delivery services.

"The larger departments provide enhanced variety and selection and greater ease maneuvering through the store," said Smith. "I think our customers are going to be pleased with their new, much improved Food City and agree that it was well worth the wait."

The Etowah store also will include a Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union in-store branch bank location. The full-service branch will have extended hours to help shoppers complete their financial business.

In addition, the branch features one tvfcuLIVE interactive teller machine that will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This technology allows members to complete basic over-the-counter transactions with a personal teller who is working from TVFCU's headquarters in downtown Chattanooga 12 hours a day, six days a week.

"We are excited to announce the opening of our fourth in-store branch inside the new Etowah Food City," said Todd Fortner, president and CEO of Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union. "This new branch brings added convenience to our members and a great opportunity to offer our products and services to new members in eastern McMinn County. By working with a like-minded collaborator like Food City, we are able to provide a one-stop experience for groceries and banking."
