Edge magazine and the Times Free Press have announced that the annual Champions of Healthcare awards luncheon scheduled for Sept. 8 will be converted to a virtual event in light of the current surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the community.

The virtual event is still currently planned to take place Sept. 8.

"After careful consideration and in conjunction with our presenting sponsor, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, and the advice of local health experts, we feel the best decision for the overall health and safety of our community is to celebrate these outstanding health care professionals with a quality virtual awards presentation," said Mark Jones, director of strategic initiatives for the Times Free Press.

The online event will feature the full slate of Champions of Healthcare award recipients, as well as a panel discussion consisting of local health leaders explaining the current COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on the local community.

Profiles for all 2021 Champions of Healthcare winners and additional content about the community's healthcare landscape will be featured in the September edition of Edge magazine.
