YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga names new CEO
The YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga's Board of Directors has named Baron Herdelin-Doherty as the organization's new president and chief executive officer, effective July 19. Herdelin-Doherty assumes the position following the retirement of outgoing president and CEO Janet Dunn.
Herdelin-Doherty brings with him more than 35 years in the YMCA movement, most recently serving as president and CEO of the YMCA of San Diego County, a $240 million organization. In that role he was responsible for 18 branches, three resident camps and 197 after school sites. He also supervised 5,500 staff and served 480,000 individuals annually.
Some of Herdelin-Doherty's accomplishments in that role included increasing the budget by $105 million, increasing membership by 17,000 units and opening six new branches.
"I'm very honored to be able to share this work — this joy — with the Chattanooga team and community," Herdelin-Doherty said. "I'm very impressed with this organization between the board, the staff and all of the work the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga is already doing in the community. In addition to his role as CEO for the YMCA of San Diego County, Herdelin-Doherty also served as president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio; chief operating officer/senior vice president of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak region; group vice president of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee; and executive director at the YMCA of Greater Rochester, YMCA of Greater Kansas City and YMCA of Mobile, Alabama.
"We are confident that Baron will be a positive leader not only for our staff and members, but also for the Chattanooga community," said Pat Neuhoff, board chairwoman for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga.
Mike Bradshaw named entrepreneur-in-residence
UTC's Gary W. Rollins College of Business has named Mike Bradshaw as the first entrepreneur-in-residence in the UTC Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was established in 2018 to engage, equip and encourage UTC's innovators and entrepreneurs. The center supports the entire UTC community through cross-campus programming and initiatives, and addresses UTC's strategic goal to "Inspire, nurture and empower scholarship, creativity, discovery, innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives."
As entrepreneur-in-residence, Bradshaw will re-energize the Idea Central Living-Learning Community, a program in which students with an interest in entrepreneurship live together while learning more about the field and opportunities to pursue it on campus and in the community. He will also oversee a mentor program for student and faculty entrepreneurs, develop a Startup Internship Program, act as a coach in CIE's pilot program for measuring and developing entrepreneurship skills and lead other initiatives that spread entrepreneurship across the UTC campus and better connect the CIE to the Chattanooga Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.
Bradshaw, a lifelong entrepreneur, has helped build businesses in diverse industries including startups in hospitality, software, digital publishing and high-speed internet. As the former executive director of The Company Lab, a UTC alum and a currently serving adjunct professor at UTC, he is devoted to UTC and Chattanooga's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
"UTC was instrumental to the emergence of Chattanooga's startup community over the past decade," Bradshaw said. "In fact, UTC students and graduates accounted for the largest number of participants in the Company Lab's programs of any institution in the region."

Patrick Durham to lead Cempa Community Care's new pharmacy
Cempa Community Care has picked Patrick Durham to head its new community pharmacy. Durham, a South Pittsburg native, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before earning his pharmacy degree at the Mercer University College of Pharmacy. He comes to Cempa with more than 12 years of chain pharmacy experience.
"Historically, most of our patients' prescriptions have been sent to a mail-order pharmacy and then delivered to them. They may have talked to a pharmacist on the phone but they've never met in person," said Durham. "So, I'm really excited about developing relationships with all the new patients here."
While the pharmacy is primarily aimed at clients of Cempa, it is a full-service pharmacy open to anyone in the community.
