Where does Tennessee rank among the most stressed states?

The biggest source of stress for Americans in 2021 is money problems, according to a recent WalletHub survey. The COVID-19 pandemic, which took first place last year, has slipped to second. WalletHub compared the 50 states across 41 key indicators of stress, ranging from average hours worked per week to the personal bankruptcy rate to the share of adults getting adequate sleep.

These are the most stressed states:

1. Nevada

2. Louisiana

3. New Mexico

4. West Virginia

5. Mississippi

6. Oklahoma

7. Tennessee

8. California

9. Kentucky

10. Texas

Alabama ranked 12th and Georgia placed 17th among the 50 states.

Tennessee ranked among the five worst states for crime, median credit scores and the share of adults not getting adequate sleep and was above average in its divorce and poverty rates.
