Chattanooga State Community College announces Patrick O'Hagan will serve in an expanded role as regional impact director.
O'Hagan has served as the Kimball Site interim director in a full-time capacity, and as regional workforce development liaison in Marion County since Julie Bennett's retirement in 2020. In his new role, O'Hagan also will oversee the economic and workforce development activities throughout the Kimball regional service area.
"The director's focus on growing academic programming at the site and workforce development engagement throughout the area will be instrumental in the success of the college in the outlying western counties," said Dr. Mosunmola George- Taylor, associate vice president for academic affairs.
As a lifelong Marion County resident, O'Hagan graduated from Chattanooga State with an associate of arts transfer degree, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in biology from Martin Methodist College and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction at Tennessee Tech University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in higher educational leadership at East Tennessee State University and has already obtained a graduate certificate in community college leadership through ETSU.
Tennessee Primary Care gives Cempa excellence award
The Tennessee Primary Care Association (TPCA) has honored Cempa Community Care with the Charles E. Darling Organization of Excellence Award. According to the TPCA, Cempa earned the distinction for its "innovation and dedication to the delivery of primary care to vulnerable populations."
"Our entire team was thrilled to learn that the TPCA recognized Cempa as an Organization of Excellence with this award," said Shannon Stephenson, CEO at Cempa Community Care. "Even without this award, I am consistently proud of the work we do on behalf of our area's underserved populations."
The Tennessee Primary Care Association membership roster comprises nearly 200 nonprofit primary care clinics across the state. In 2020, these member institutions provided high quality, comprehensive care to more than 415,000 Tennesseans.
The award, named in honor of Dr. Charles E. Darling, recognizes outstanding achievement in organizing, delivering and/or financing health services to vulnerable populations.
This is the second statewide award Cempa has garnered this year for the organization's work. For its role in bringing reliable and safe COVID-19 testing to numerous underserved communities across Greater Chattanooga, Cempa was also recently honored with the Governor's Award of Excellence by Gov. Bill Lee's faith-based and community initiative.
CHI's Cassandra Rodriguez certified as gerontological specialist
CHI Memorial Medical Group announces Cassandra Rodriguez, MSN, NP-C, GS-C, has been certified as a gerontological specialist by the Gerontology Nursing Certification Commission. Rodriguez works at the CHI Memorial Center for Healthy Aging's Alexian Village clinic.

SEMC honors Hunter Museum with four publication awards
The Hunter Museum of American Art is the recipient of four 2021 Southeastern Museums Conference publication awards. The SEMC publication competition, which recognizes and rewards excellence in graphic design in museum publications, showcases the best in the profession and provides benchmarks for regional publication efforts in southeastern museums.
The museum received silver awards in both the gallery guides and mailers and calendars categories for the museum's self-guided tour brochures and for the spring 2021 issue of its member magazine, Art View. The Hunter Museum was additionally recognized with a bronze award for promotion of its 2020 exhibitions in the invitations category as well as an honorable mention in the campaigns category for the promotional campaign of its summer 2021 special exhibition, Power, Passion, & Pose: Photographs by Ken Browar and Deborah Ory.
"These awards recognize the top-notch efforts of our staff in creating and designing dynamic materials to keep our members engaged, bring in new audiences and enhance the guest experience," said Hunter Museum Executive Director Virginia Anne Sharber.
Recipients of the awards were judged by an appointed jury of creative professionals who specialize in communications, art and graphic design.
Jake Johnson to head development at CHI Memorial Foundation
CHI Memorial Foundation, the fundraising arm of CHI Memorial, announces Jake Johnson will serve as the director of development and major gifts. He will work to advance major gifts by partnering with foundations, community leaders and individual donors.
Jake JohnsonA native of Ringgold, Georgia, Johnson brings nearly 10 years of fundraising experience to CHI Memorial. Most recently, he served as a director of development for the American Heart Association (AHA) where he led annual campaigns in Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia. Before his time at AHA, Johnson was a senior consultant at Pennington & Company and worked extensively to conduct feasibility studies and develop and manage capital campaigns. He has raised nearly $12 million during his career.
Jennifer Nicely, president of CHI Memorial Foundation, said Johnson's experience "is a perfect compliment to our fundraising efforts, including an upcoming capital campaign to help fund the new hospital planned for Northwest Georgia and efforts to develop the new Stroke and Neuroscience Center at CHI Memorial."
Siskin names Bobby Shegog head of environmental services
Siskin Hospital has appointed Bobby Shegog as the director of its environmental services department.
Bobby ShegogShegog is responsible for the overall management of Siskin Hospital's first line of defense in infection prevention and control. He will ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and oversee the departmental operating budget, as well as ensuring all staff are trained in medical and safety guidelines.
Shegog brings more than 26 years of leadership experience in healthcare environmental services. He specializes in emergency incident management and preparedness and has completed FEMA coursework IS 100 – IS 800. He is also a certified asbestos hazard evaluation specialist. He received a bachelor's degree in theology from the Jacksonville Theology Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida, and an associate's degree in healthcare business administration from Concorde College in Memphis.
