The Chattanooga-based moving company Bellhop has been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best moving companies of 2022.

In its annual ranking of industry leaders, Bellhop ranked No. 2 among all U.S moving companies, behind only JK Moving.

Bill Chase, the chief marketing officer for Bellhop, said the first-time ranking in the U.S. News annual report for Bellhop should give the web-based moving service a major boost.

"We're thrilled to be listed among some of the most established and well-known moving companies in the industry, and honored to rank No 2 as the best moving company overall, including No. 2 "Best Long Distance Moving Company" and No. 2 as the 2 "Best Interstate Long Distance Moving Company."

U.S. News & World Report reviewed the cost, licensing, probability of being on time, customer satisfaction, and flexibility of services to make its ranking.

Bellhop, which was started in 2011 as Bellhops by Chattanooga entrepreneurs Cam Doody and Stephen Vlahos, provides moving services for small-scale moves. On its website the company says it is "not a traditional moving company," allowing you to book a move without an in-person consultation and to manage your move from an online dashboard in your Bellhop account. The company also offers free quotes and booking with no money down. Bellhop performs local, long distance, interstate, and commercial moves and has completed more than 300,000 moves over the past decade.

Bellhop operates in 24 states and the District of Columbia and has about 200 team members working at Bellhop headquarters, including remote workers, and has more than 1,400 moving Pros, Drivers, and Carriers in the field.

Chase said Bellhop has experienced higher demand for its moving services this summer than ever before.

"We are actively hiring moving Pros, Drivers, and Carriers in virtually every market to ensure an adequate workforce to meet unprecedented demand," he said. "To this end, we have increased hourly pay in many markets; we have also introduced a demand-based pay system that rewards Bellhop team members for working during peak demand windows."
