Chattanooga's biggest advertising agency has hired a 30-year industry veteran as president to help accelerate the firm's digital innovation.

Teresa Caro, a top marketing officer in Atlanta for such firms as Sagepath Reply, Luckie, Atlanticus, Shoutlet and Moxie over the past decade, is the new president of the Johnson Group in Chattanooga.

Joe Johnson, the founder and CEO of the Johnson Group, said Caro will help "guide and motivate new thinking and cutting-edge branch marketing" as head of the 80-employee agency.

"Here at the Johnson Group, we work in concert with clients to deliver results that integrate data, analytics and our proprietary tools to craft effective marketing campaigns," Johnson said in an announcement Tuesday of Caro's hiring. "Teresa brings a fresh perspective, incredible leadership and bold thinking to ensure we continue to stay ahead digitally and creatively."

During her marketing work with dozens of companies, Caro has won numerous awards, including awards from Cannes Lion, Effie Clio, the Radio Mercury Award and Communication Arts.

"My entire career has led me to this inflection point," Caro said in a statement about her new job. "I've taken well-established brands and have been that trend-spotter to help them achieve growth targets while keeping who they are at the core."

In a telephone interview, Caro said she was impressed with the people and diversity of skills at the Johnson Group.

"At the core, the Johnson Group is a receptive and tenacious team," she said. "We are ready to roll up our sleeves together to do the work and excel for this agency."

Established in 1996, the Johnson Group is a full-service marketing, advertising, and creative agency with such clients as Krystal, Johnny Rockets, Trustmark and Sunbelt Bakery, among others. The Johnson Group boasts that it helps brands "slay the giants that stand in the way of their success by blending fresh ideas with proprietary direct response tools" to forge deeper brand connections and more profitable conversions.

The firm has been nationally recognized by the major industry awards and publications including Adweek, Ad Age, Communication Arts, Archive, One Show, Effies, Addys and Obies.
