Best and worst restaurant inspection reports for the week ending May 24, 2022

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspects restaurants twice a year and grades the businesses on a 100-point scale. Scores below 70 require corrective action. Restaurants are reinspected if they fail to meet critical standards.

To file a health-related complaint, call the Department of Environmental Health at 423-209-8110. The scores are original and do not reflect on-the-spot changes, which sometimes lead to upward adjustments.

Reasons including sponge stored in grease to be spread on pans. Discarded small pan of grease. Lasagna, cheese, and sliced ham not date marked in walkin cooler. Pasta, cooked mushrooms, and cooked peppers set out of cold/hot holding to be held at room temperature. Employee using a sponge to grease pans. Employee items stored over food in cooler.

Reasons including bin of chopped cabbage sitting out at room temperature. Person in charge stated new employee forgot to place in refrigerator. Cut leafy greens must be refrigerated at 41F or below. Food was discarded as a precaution. Spray bottle unlabeled. Plastic being used to plug sinks. Food debris/build up on refrigerator handles. Employee food being stored with restaurant food in walk-in cooler.
