Moreland moves up at BlueCross

Cheri Moreland has been promoted to director of member outreach services for BlueCare Tennessee, the Medicaid managed care subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

In her new role, Moreland is responsible for outreach activities with the company's more than 470,000 members, who are served under a contract with the Bureau of TennCare.

"Cheri has a strong track record of service in member education and outreach roles," said Amber Cambron, president and CEO of BlueCare Tennessee. "She brings a great deal of expertise to this position and will be a strong addition to our leadership team."

Moreland has been with BlueCare Tennessee since the company was founded in 1993, starting out in customer service and advancing through a series of management roles.

Thunder adds Howard as VP

Clarence L. Howard, a 20-year veteran in the construction industry and former owner of B & H Surveying Services, has joined Thunder Enterprises as senior vice president of construction.

Company President Dane Bradshaw said Howard has a track record of successfully managing long-term, multi-phase construction projects. Howard has been the surveyor for the home sites Thunder Enterprises is building at Jasper Highlands, a 8,839-acre residential development on Jasper Mountain in Marion County, Tenn.

A native of South Pittsburg, Howard previously served in Operation Desert Storm with the U.S. Army.

"We are thrilled to have Clarence join our team in Jasper," said John "Thunder" Thornton, CEO of Thunder Enterprises. "I've always strived to build and expand Thunder Enterprises by hiring 10s, and we've certainly done that with Clarence."

Jasper Highlands overlooks the Cumberland Plateau, Tennessee River and Nickajack Lake. The gated community features miles of nature trails that showcase area waterfalls and wildlife.

Thunder Enterprises, located in Kimball, Tenn., is a developer of homes and master-planned communities in Tennessee, Wyoming, Montana, North Carolina and Hawaii.

Stiefel heads Life Care unit

Ben Stiefel has been named executive director for Life Care Center of Collegedale.

Stiefel has completed Life Care's administrator-in-training program and previously served as executive director at Life Care Center of Bruceton-Hollow Rock in Bruceton, Tenn. He is a former administrator at Signature Healthcare in Nashville.

"Ben is a wonderful addition to our region," said Carolyn Freeman, vice president of Life Care Centers of America's Cumberland Region. "His experience, energy and commitment to care will be valuable to Collegedale as it continues to grow."

A native of Guntersville, Ala., Stiefel earned his bachelor's degree in business and recently moved to Ringgold, Ga., with his wife, Lori, and two children.

Life Care Center of Collegedale, at 9210 Apison Pike, is one of 26 skilled nursing facilities in Tennessee operated or managed by Life Care Centers of America.

Founded in 1976, Life Care is a nationwide health care company with headquarters in Cleveland, Tenn. Life Care, along with sister company Century Park, operates or manages more than 260 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and senior living campuses in 28 states.

Juerges to head chamber chapter

Heiko Stephan Juerges, president & CEO of H&D Corp., in Chattanooga, will be the new Tennessee chapter director for the German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States Inc.

Martina Stellmaszek, president and CEO of GACC South, said Juerges extensive experience with German-American business relations in Tennessee "makes him a good fit for the position."

Tennessee has nearly 800 foreign subsidiaries representing 34 countries throughout the state. About 100 of them are German companies. The chapter office is located in the Volunteer Building in Chattanooga.

Litchford new law firm director

The board of Chattanooga law firm Grant, Konvalinka & Harrison, P.C., has elected attorney Mark Windle Litchford as a director of the firm.

Litchford grew up in Crossville, Tenn., and joined the firm in 2008. He graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville in 2001 and received his J.D. degree, cum laude, in 2008 from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. Litchford is licensed to practice in Tennessee and Georgia and concentrates his practice in representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation, personal injury and property law as well as assisting clients in business transactions and estate planning. Litchford is a member of the Chattanooga, Tennessee and Georgia bar associations, as well as the American Bar Association.

Clark earns IWP designation

David Clark, a commercial and personal lines producer for RSS Insurance in Chattanooga, has earned the prestigious Certified WorkComp Advisor designation, conferred by the Institute of WorkComp Professionals. The Asheville, NC-based organization trains insurance professionals to locate costly errors in workers' compensation coverage.

The certification training provided by the institute is essential in reviewing workers' compensation insurance reports. There are approximately 500 insurance agencies that have staff members who have qualified for the Certified WorkComp Advisor designation.

Mark Making adds 6 to board

Mark Making, a Chattanooga based nonprofit organization that teaches society's most distressed and forgotten populations to use public art as an empowering tool to create personal change, has added six new members to its board of directors.

The new directors include Mike Bradshaw, executive director at The Company Lab; Shannon Edmondson, development and communications officer at Public Education Foundation; Martin Gadd, a business entrepreneur; Steve Gaines, contractor at New Blue Construction; Charlie Poss, attorney at Leitner, Williams, Dooley, and Napolitan, and Elizabeth Tallman, associate director of Community Impact at United Way of Greater Chattanooga.

"The addition of these phenomenal new board members will help Mark Making continue to increase its impact in underserved areas of Chattanooga," said Frances McDonald, executive director of Mark Making. "We are fortunate to have such a diverse group of talented and dedicated individuals helping us make a difference for those who most need it."

FSG promotes Michele Bowman

FSG Bank announces that Michele Bowman has been promoted to senior vice president of retail branch operation. Bowman has more than 25 years of experience in retail branch operations. In her new role, Bowman will focus on team building and coaching, regulatory compliance and branch documentation.

Bowman received her bachelor of science from Lee University and is an MBA candidate at Belhaven University. She is actively involved in various community organizations.
