Creative director Anna Roncskevitz walks past seating near a stage set up on May 7, 2015, at Granfalloon, a day cafe and nighttime entertainment venue located on Main Street in Chattanooga.

Project: Granfalloon cafe and entertainment venue.

Location: 400 E. Main St.

Size: 4,300 square feet.

Owners/founders: Chelsea McInturff and Amanda Halligan.

Contractor: Andy Fahsholtuz.

Investment: Around $165,000.

History: The "Clear Story Building" was a fabric mill in the 1950s and used in an industrial fashion until roughly a decade ago. The space Granfalloon will occupy has been empty for about 10 years.

Scope: Granfalloon — a word invented by author Kurt Vonnegut to mean a group of people who have nothing in common but find themselves together — will be open 7 a.m. to midnight starting at the end of May. A myriad of dishes from all over the world will be served in the cafe, and the venue will open to music, comedy and other live entertainment.

Granfalloon will employ 30 people, split nearly down the middle between full- and part-time.

Schedule: A soft opening is set for May 18.
