Volkswagen of America has promoted Duncan Movassaghi as executive vice president, sales and marketing for the Volkswagen brand. He starts in his new role in Herndon, Virginia, on Feb. 3.

Movassaghi, 45, currently senior vice president of sales for the company, will be responsible for sales, marketing, after sales and product marketing for the brand in the U.S. He will report to Scott Keogh, head of Volkswagen Group of America.

"We have the brand, the products and the plan to take advantage of a unique moment," Keogh said. "Duncan will sharpen our decision-making and help us make VW matter again."

He joined the company in February 2018 from Skoda U.K., a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG where he served as managing director, running sales, after sales, planning, customer quality, network development, marketing and public relations.

Movassaghi graduated from Cambridge University in 1998 with a degree in engineering.
