The average college graduate with a bachelor's degree earns more than 70% more than a person with only a high school diploma, according to research by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. But some of the world's wealthiest billionaires never earned a college degree.

1. Bill Gates, Microsoft founder worth $149 billion, dropped out of Harvard University

2. Mark Zuckerbug, Facebook founder worth $129 billion, dropped out of Harvard University

3. Larry Page, Google co-founder worth $117 billion, dropped out of the University of Michigan

4. Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle worth $101 billion, dropped out of Illinois University

5. Amancio Ortega, a Spanish retail magnate worth $74.7 billion, dropped out of school at age 14
