The U.S. Bureau of Census estimates that since the year 2000 Chattanooga's population has grown by its fastest pace in three decades, reaching a record of 171,349 residents in 2009. But the fastest population growth among cities in the region came, in order, in Fort Oglethorpe, Dunlap, Crossville and Collegdale.
