Husband-and-wife landscape painters Scott and Tatiana Hill will be at an opening reception for the show "Quiet Spaces" at River Gallery, 400 E. Second St. The reception is scheduled 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. Scott Hill often depicts a solitary figure against a sweeping backdrop, such as the above painting, "Oncoming Train," reminiscent of the Romantic era's interest in man's meditation and awe of nature. Tatiana Hill paints organic and nonfigurative forms, fluid to the point of abstraction. Admission is free.
