A reception on Saturday, Sept. 23, will open ShapeShifter Gallery's new exhibit "The Donut Show." And what better place for an art show by that name than a doughnut shop? This show and reception will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Julie Darling Donuts, 121 Frazier Ave.

Featured artists Brianna Bass and Noah Kocher will be present and will conduct a short talk at 5 p.m.

The show explores "the lighthearted" and "all things happy." Utilizing vibrant pastels, the art in this show expresses the playful nature of art.

Knoxville-based artist Bass explores color theory and optical illusion, playing eye games in candy-colored acrylic paintings. Nashville artist Kocher's paintings focus on frenetic movement through exuberant color choice and linework.

ShapeShifter Gallery is a contemporary moving gallery that highlights forward-thinking artists. This gallery features one-night shows held in various locations around the city. Julie Darling Donuts will remain open for business during the show.
