An alumnus of Ballet Tennessee is returning to town from New York to participate in Friday night's Summer Dance Intensive recital at the Center for Creative Arts, 1301 Dallas Road.

Fredrick Davis and students in the Summer Intensive dance program will perform at 6 p.m. on July 20. There is no admission fee.

In addition to the live performance, the program will include the premiere of "Anchors," a film collaboration between Ballet Tennessee, The Pop-up Project and the Sculpture Fields.

Dedicated to the five servicemen who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in July 2015, the film will feature Davis, seven Ballet Tennessee dancers and 60 students from Ballet Tennessee's summer programs.

David Lundberg's sculpture "Anchors" in the Sculpture Fields will be the centerpiece of the film, with choreography by Jules Downum, Mattie Waters, Emma Pannkuk and Maddi Lane. The musical score is by Tim Cofield.

The film was shot July 13 at the Sculpture Fields. In addition to the experience of dancing with professionals, student dancers got the opportunity to watch what goes on behind the scenes when making a professional film.

After Friday's premiere, the film will be released online and through social media for free, helping promote the three nonprofits and participating artists.
