"Rumors," the madcap, door-slamming farce by Neil Simon, will open Thursday, July 19, for seven performances by the Ringgold Playhouse inside the historic Ringgold, Georgia, depot.

The show offers fast-paced hilarity that has been polished over the past 10 weeks by director Kimberly Tyner Jones and her cast of 10.

As the play opens, Charley and Myra Brock are celebrating their 10th anniversary and have invited all their good friends over to share in the happy occasion.

Chris and Ken Gorman are the first to arrive. They show up only to find that Myra is missing and Charley has "accidentally" shot himself in the ear during an alleged botched suicide attempt. Charley is the deputy mayor of New York City and, hoping to avoid a scandal, Ken and Chris go about covering up what they assume to be the truth of the situation.

As the rest of the guests arrive - Claire and Len Ganz, Ernie and Cookie Cusack, Cassie and Glenn Cooper - the story of Charley and Myra's anniversary evening gone awry grows and develops.

By the end of the show, all the guests are complicit in a cover-up that no one even really understands, but the audience will find hilarious.

"From the very beginning, I knew this cast, this show was going to be one long joy-ride of laughs and a pleasure to direct," Jones says.

"Even before the first read-through, the cast was already group texting back and forth about how excited they were to be working together the puns and one-liners soaring. They had not even read the script, or met face-to-face yet. They were hilarious together."

The cast includes TRP alums Dan Lyons, Ed Huckabee, Ayana Winchester, Bobby Daniels, Renee Lierow, Ronald King, Jodi Upton and Zack Jordan. Kim Jenkins and Jo Schendel are making their debut with the company.
