A new exhibit of art by Susan Budash and Margaret Park will open at Reflections Gallery, 6922 Lee Highway, on Friday, July 27, continuing through Aug. 24.
A free reception will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery to mark the opening.
Budash moved to Chattanooga from the Niagara region of New York about two years ago. She describes herself as a classical realist, who paints in "the old tradition/methods which preceded the Impressionist movement in the late 1870s."
Budash will give two artist talks on these methods during the reception; one at 5:30 p.m., the other at 6:30.
"My creative voice has always found inspiration in the world of Realism expression, specifically the old methods employed by the Old Masters, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Titian and other notables. Much of what I learned about painting in the indirect methods (fat-over-lean) is self-taught," Budash says in her artist's statement.
Reflections Gallery is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
