A cast of youth ages 8 to 18 will present five performances of "Mary Poppins Jr." beginning Friday, Sept. 14, in Dalton, Georgia.

Presented by Artistic Civic Theatre's Youth Theatre, ACT2, the musical will star Megan Robertson in the title role.

Jack-of-all trades Bert (played by Raymundo Moncayo) introduces the audience to the troubled Banks family. Young Jane Banks (Kinsley Stephens) and Michael Banks (Ellis Stephens) have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep.

Using a combination of magic and common sense, she teaches the family's members how to value each other again. The nanny takes the children on magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."

Carter Gee and Sara Angell will play Mr. and Mrs. Banks. The actors who portray siblings Jane and Michael are not related, although they do have the same last name.

"Coming into this production, I was nervous," says director Mary McLawhorn.

"Mary Poppins is a classic, everyone knows it. I was worried that a bunch of kids, no matter how talented they were, couldn't pull off these iconic characters. I had nothing to fear though. This 'Mary Poppins Jr.' cast, down to the youngest chimney sweep, has made this story come alive with their amazing talent and personality. They are all doing an awesome job and I'm very proud of each one of them."

"Mary Poppins Jr." is an enchanting mix of unforgettable songs, exciting dance numbers, unique special effects and illusions.
