The Queen of Country Comedy and an Iranian Southern Bapti-costal will bring their stand-up routines to The Comedy Catch, 1400 Market St., this weekend.

Fan favorite Etta May is in town Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 20-22, on her Box Wine and Gas Station Chicken tour. Etta May is known by several names - The Polyester Princess, Queen of Southern Sass, Queen of Country Comedy, The Trailer Park Goddess - but she's also won the prestigious title of American Comedy Awards' Comic of the Year.

This Kentucky woman delivers a high-powered, take-no-prisoners performance of truth, irony, humor and wisdom.

Etta May headlines the successful Southern Fried Chicks Comedy Tour and has built a fan base on SiriusXM comedy channels.

Tickets are $12 for Thursday's 7:30 show; $18 for shows at 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. on either Friday or Saturday.

Moody Molavi will close out the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 23, with a 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets are $10.

Born in Iran to an Iranian father and American mother, Molavi learned at an early age how to read the comedic moment in any situation.

His family moved to the southern United States in 1981, where Moody says he used comedy to escape multitudes of adverse moments in his young life. He was bullied by Iranians for being an American, and by Americans for being an Iranian.

The Christian comic is married to his high-school sweetheart, who later became his stepsister through the marriage of their parents to each other.

That's where the fun begins as Moody skillfully shares his life experiences as an "Iranian Southern Bapti-costal Uncle Daddy."
