The citizens of Tuna, Texas, return to Cumberland County Playhouse beginning Friday, May 31, for "Red, White and Tuna," a raucously funny sequel to "Greater Tuna."

"It's just one of the funniest plays I've ever worked on," says director Weslie Webster.

"Between the absolute hilarity of the script and the comic genius of Patty (Payne) and Jason (Ross), I can barely keep a straight face during rehearsals. They're the perfect pair to pull off this type of zany comedy."

Authors Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams skewer the eccentricities of life in rural America in "Red, White and Tuna" with their look into hearts and minds of the polyester-clad citizens of Tuna, Texas, the state's third-smallest town.

Beloved Playhouse stars Ross and Payne play 17 quirky characters of both genders and various ages as they burst into the Fourth of July Tuna High School class reunion. This sets the stage for a show full of fireworks and frivolity straight from the land where the Lions Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.

"Red, White and Tuna" is rated PG. It plays through Aug. 8.
