The replica Columbus ships "Nina" and "Pinta" have docked in Chattanooga before, but there's a connection beyond the frequency of their visits. Their gift shop includes magnets and prints of an iconic work, "Columbus Discovers America," by John Fleming Gould, whose son moved to Chattanooga a few years ago and brought his father's art collection with him.

The elder Gould (1906-1996) was a nationally known artist, illustrator and art instructor based in New York.

"Nina" and "Pinta" will be docked at the Chattanooga Pier, 200 Riverfront Parkway, through Oct. 27. For more information, visit www.thenina.com or email legacy@johngouldart.com.
