It may be frigid outside, but Mellow Mushroom's downtown location is throwing open its doors to let the city in (figuratively, of course). I assure you, the popular downtown restaurant's interior is warm as ever. And now, it is also completely renovated from floor to ceiling.

Managing partner Samantha Jones said the idea behind the new design is to better reflect the city itself. Yes, Mellow has been Nooga-fied, and you are going to love it.

First, there is an enormous new art installation made out of bicycles. There is a new chandelier made from climbing ropes and carabiners. The new flowy bar layout channels the river and pays homage to paddlers. There are new floors and new stainless steel appliances stocked in the kitchen. There is a new "feature" table designed to make diners feel like they are sitting beneath a waterfall.

"It's going to be our most requested table for sure!" Samantha said.

Makeover aside, there are more reasons than ever to eat at either Mellow location - beginning with its small-plate lunch special offered every Tuesday. The deal lets you select among pretzel bites, Capri salad, hummus or bruschetta, each for $3.

"Two of those and an iced tea sound perfect!" Samantha cooed. It also
sounds refreshing. And speaking of

A tasty new event has been added to Mellow's monthly calendar. "Flites
and Bites" showcases four different brews from a special brewery, pairing them with four different Mellow bites. A brewery representative attends the event to answer questions and share fun backstories about the beer.

The next is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Waterside location
near Hamilton Place mall, and Thursday, Feb. 4 at the downtown location. That means you have just a few days to gather your crew
and make the date.

And remember, while Mellow's downtown location may feel brand-new,
Samantha assures it will stay true to its roots.

"We're a restaurant with a bar and we're not trying to change that," she
said. "That said, we are upgrading the wine list, adding handmade cocktails. All of this to improve everyone's experience, whether you sit at the bar and enjoy a game or come in with your family and share a bottle of wine with them. We'll always be known for craft beer and we love it! But hey, why not do everything else with such vigor?

"We're happy with what's happening at Mellow and we know the guests will be too."
