Not everyone is a night owl who will stay up for the midnight ball drop on New Year's Eve. Some celebrations might just include a nice, early evening dinner with friends to reminisce and wrap up the old year.

For others, dinner in one venue is the start of a full-on evening of dancing and partying someplace else before heading home in the wee hours of New Year's Day.

Following is a sample of New Year's Eve dinner specials being offered around town on Monday night, Dec. 31.


* Dinner of the Bluff: Back Inn Cafe, 411 E. Second St., 5-10 p.m.

Start New Year's Eve with a relaxing dinner at Back Inn Café before heading out on the town. Back Inn's signature winter menu will be combined with New Year's Eve-inspired cocktails.

* Dinner for Two at Scottie's on the River: 491 Riverfront Parkway, 5-9:30 p.m., $120 for two.

Enjoy dinner by the Tennessee River at Scottie's, where the New Year's Eve special will include a three-course dinner with giveaways throughout the night. Each special will be served with a bottle of house wine.

The New Year's Eve special consists of three courses: an appetizer choice of spinach dip or Firecracker Shrimp, a main course with a 24-ounce bone-in porterhouse steak served over garlic mashed potatoes with broccolini, and seafood ravioli served with pesto Alfredo, all family-style. Dinner closes with a choice of any dessert.

* New Year's Eve at Bridgeman's Chophouse: Inside the Read House, 107 W. M.L. King Blvd., $80 per person, add a wine pairing for $45.

Dinner in the new Bridgeman's restaurant starts with Back Truffle Arancini di Riso. Then choose from lobster bisque, roasted root vegetable salad or a Caesar salad. Main entree choicess are prime ribeye and sweet butter-poached lobster tail, stuffed red drum fish or roasted red beet agnolotti.

Dinner wraps up with a choice of cheese, crackers, jam and fruit platter or foie gras chocolate lava cake.

Bridgeman's will also offer a special New Year's Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

* New Year's Eve at Rodizio Grill: 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Hamilton Place, 4-9:30 p.m. downtown, 439 Broad St.

During dinner hours Monday at the downtown location, enjoy an extended menu of lobster bisque, ribeye and Parmesan Beef in addition to diners' favorites.

The Hamilton Place location will also serve lobster bisque, ribeye and Parmesan Beef plus all of its regular favorites. Regular dinner pricing is $32.99.

* New Year's Eve on the Southern Belle: 151 Riverfront Parkway.

The New Year's Eve early-bird cruise gets the party started at 4 p.m. Enjoy prime rib and Chicken Wisconsin buffet dinner, music and views of the Tennessee River. This a great cruise for those who want to relax and celebrate, but be tucked in by midnight. Tickets are $51.95 ages 13 and up, $24.95 ages 3-12.

The riverboat's New Year's Eve on the River cruise starts at the 3rd Deck Burger Bar for happy hour from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests will board the Southern Belle at 8:30 for a 9 p.m. departure.

Enjoy dinner, music, dancing, party favors and a midnight champagne toast as you cruise into 2019. The buffet-style dinner will feature prime rib, shrimp creole, a variety of sides, dessert and more.

Must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are $129.95.
