Though it has been just a few short months since its opening, Scottie's on the River is offering Chattanoogans an atmosphere that truly speaks the city's name - a combination of fresh local food served alongside the beauty of the riverfront.

Owner Scottie Bowman said she's ready for all that 2019 has in store and is inviting the community to join her in celebrating the new year and its adventures ahead.

The new upscale restaurant on 491 Riverfront Parkway has quickly become a favorite for seafood lovers. Its tables are filling up on a regular basis due, in part, to the ambiance and location with the Tennessee River almost at your table side.

"You can appreciate the views even during this time of year," Bowman said. "We have all garage doors on our back wall, which we have to keep closed during the winter months, but you still can enjoy the view of the water."

And with the view come some amazing flavors. Chef specials bring in two to three different fresh fish per week including swordfish, mahi-mahi and flounder. Steak cuts are always dry-aged and cooked to order, garnished with some unique house favorites such as cauliflower mash or pan-seared asparagus. And, of course, when it comes to portions, Scottie's is not lacking.

"I'm a Southern girl and we like to eat, so we make sure there's plenty of food on the plates," Bowman joked, adding that comfort is of importance, too. "We're fine dining in a casual atmosphere."

Bowman is offering her guests a unique deal to help celebrate the arrival of 2019.

"We have a New Year's Eve dinner for two for $120 that's full of great flavor. We'll have prizes given away during the evening as well," she says, noting that each special is served with a bottle of house wine.

This special consists of three courses: an appetizer choice of spinach dip or Firecracker Shrimp, a main course with a 24-ounce bone-in porterhouse steak (40-day, dry-aged and cooked to order) served over garlic mashed potatoes with broccolini, and seafood ravioli served with pesto Alfredo, all family style. The dinner closes with a choice of any dessert.

"We expect it's going to sell out quickly," Bowman said, adding that availability is very limited and guests interested need to make pre-paid reservations by calling 423-267-RIVR.

"This is a pre-midnight dinner too, from 5 to 9:30 p.m., so people can get to their preferred destination to ring in the new year."

Prizes during the evening will include Scottie's gift cards and T-shirts, among others. For those who can't make this special event, but want to be kept in the loop on other specials and deals to come at Scottie's, they may sign up for the restaurant's email list at http://eepurl.com/drUvCP.
