The annual Jewish Documentary Film Series launches Jan. 15

The Jewish Cultural Center will launch its annual Jewish Documentary Film Series on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the center, 5461 North Terrace Road.

Each in the series of four films will be shown at 7:15 p.m. on consecutive Wednesdays. Admission is $10 per person.

DOCUMENTARY FILM SERIES

* Jan. 15: "Carvalho's Journey," 85 minutes, in English.

The story of photographer Solomon Nunes Carvalho's 1853 journey out West. The Sephardic Jew from South Carolina travels with John Fremont, meeting mountain men and American Indians.

* Jan. 22: "Fiddler: Miracle of Miracles," 97 minutes, in English.

The story of how "Fiddler on the Roof" came to be includes interviews with the musical's creators and excerpts from productions.

* Jan. 29: "Prosecuting Evil: The Extraordinary World of Ben Ferencz," 83 minutes, in English.

The story of Ben Ferencz, one of the chief prosecutors of the Nuremberg Trials, and his career dedicated to justice.

* Feb. 5: "Picture of His Life," 72 minutes, in English, Hebrew, Inukitut.

The story of former Israeli elite commando-turned-wildlife-photographer Amos Nachoum and his quest to record a swimming polar bear.
