The Tennessee Chamber Chorus will present multiple performances of its holiday concert, "Gaudete!," this week in Cleveland, Knoxville and Chattanooga.

Chattanooga audiences will be treated to a matinee and evening show on Saturday, Dec. 17, at St. Timothy's Episcopal on Signal Mountain and at Christ Church Episcopal, respectively. The Cleveland performance is tonight, Dec. 15, at St. Luke's Episcopal.

"Gaudete" is the Latin word for "rejoice," and the concert is a celebration of the season. The program will feature familiar music of Gustav Holst, Felix Mendelssohn, Charles Stanford and others, along with a carol sing-along and new arrangements of holiday favorites by composers including Ola Gjeilo, Dan Forrest and Abbie Betinis.

Knoxville-based organist Joshua Sumter will accompany the choir as well as perform solo selections by Andrew Carter and Harrison Oxley.

The Tennessee Chamber Chorus is an ensemble of 16 professional singers from throughout the region who come together twice a year to perform. Founded in 2012, the ensemble is dedicated to innovation and artistic excellence in choral music, specializing in high-quality programs that explore thematic and historical links from medieval times through the 21st century.

This will be the first concert under the direction of Dr. Alan Stevens, the newly appointed artistic director. Stevens is also the associate director of choral activities at East Tennessee State University.

Tickets are not necessary for the Knoxville concert. Admission to the other performances is $20 for adults, $5 for students and children. Tickets are available in advance at www.TennesseeChamberChorus.org or may be purchased at the door.
