Jimmy Allgood is ready to Rock the Block before Nightfall

Jimmy Allgood has spent the last couple of months performing for showcases in Las Vegas and Atlanta, but he returns home on Friday, July 1, for a Rock the Block show at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center before the Nightfall show at Miller Plaza.

Rock the Block was added to Nightfall this year as part of a collaboration between Chattanooga Presents, which produces Nightfall, and officials at the Bessie. The first Friday of each month, M.L. King between Houston and Market streets is blocked off. Music, vendors and activities for the whole family are planned from 5 to 7 p.m., when things shift to Miller Plaza for Nightfall.

Each month a different club or group such as car or motorcycle collectors brings their cars or bikes to show them off on the blocked-off part of M.L. King. This month, the River City Corvette Club is the featured group.

Allgood will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. He'll be doing songs from his new CD, "She Can Have It All," recorded in Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
