Jimmy Needham will be the opening performer for Lee University's U-Church community worship series on Sunday, Sept. 11. His program will start at 7 p.m. in Conn Center, 150 11th St. on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus. A veteran Christian artist and blogger, Needham has had multiple hits including "Clear the Stage" and "The Reason I Sing," but now is changing his message and sound — soulful, socially conscious, faith-based pop songs with hints of blues and roots — after having a revelation about the truth of his relationship with the Lord while at work on his latest album, "Vice & Virtue." Still to come in the series are Planetshakers on Oct. 6 and the student-led Come to the Table: An Evening of Worship on Nov. 13. U-Church is free and nonticketed; seating is first-come, first-served. To arrange child care, email cwyatt@leeuniversity.edu. For U-Chuch information, email jlane@leeuniversity.edu or 423-614-8347.
