New Madrid, a quartet that mixes elements of post-punk, psychedelic rock, pop and grunge, comes here on Friday, April 14, from Athens, Ga.'s storied music scene.

Shaking Ray Levi Society will present New Madrid in a performance at Wayne-o-Rama, 1800 Rossville Ave.

New Madrid has developed a sound that is dense and expansive. With reverb-drenched vocal harmonies, New Madrid explores the depths of psychedelia and noise.

The band's independent 2012 debut album, "Yardboat," won 2013 Album of the Year in Athens. The band also won Artist of the Year at the Flagpole Music Awards in 2013 and 2014, presented by Flagpole Magazine to honor Athens' best musical talent.

New Madrid's latest album, released last year, "magnetkingmagnetqueen," shows a wide range of influences from the guitar tangle of Television and the tripped-out introspection of Yo La Tengo to the experimentation of Can.

Advance tickets may be purchased online at www.shakingray.com/news.shtml#newmadrid.

Paper tickets will not be issued to advance ticketholders.

Their names will be on a list at the door, according to a news release from Shaking Ray Levi Society.
