If one barbershop chorus is entertaining, just think what the power of two choruses can do.

The Choo Choo Chorus and Scenic City Chorus, Chattanooga's male and female barbershop choruses, respectively, are combining to present "Christmas in Harmony: Together Again" on Saturday afternoon at Girls Preparatory School. Together, the 100-plus choir will present a program with a wide array of sacred and secular songs.

This will be the third Christmas concert for which the choruses have joined.

"The product we produced last year was very successful and worth doing again. Everyone said it was fabulous," says Scenic City Chorus member Ray Ann Kurtz. "The two choruses have combined Christmas shows because of having limited weekends at this time of year, and we do tend to draw the same audiences."

Kurtz says the ladies will sing about eight numbers ranging from "Tennessee Christmas" to "Old Man's Back in Town."

Choo Choo Chorus member Dan Kopf says each chorus will sing its own set, then combine for the finale. Some of the men's numbers include "Jingle Bells" "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Let There Be Peace of Earth."

Of special interest, the combined group will sing two songs written for eight-part barbershop harmony, Kopf adds.
