Born in Cuba in 1970, Jaime Jorge began violin studies at age 5. His mother wanted him to be a violinist, but he dreamed of becoming a missionary doctor.

He was in his second year of medical school when he felt called by God to form a music ministry. For 30 years, the violinist has toured in 72 countries, playing more than 3,000 concerts in venues from high-school auditoriums to cathedrals to Carnegie Hall.

Six years ago, he founded Healing Music Inc., a music ministry to raise awareness and funds for missionary projects in this country and abroad that were dear to him. Jorge presents concerts around the world as fundraisers for these projects.

Beginning Thursday, July 19, through Saturday, July 21, he will host a Healing Music Festival in Collegedale Community Church, 9305 Four Corners Place, to raise funds to provide violin lessons for inner-city children in Chattanooga.

The violinist will perform solo as well as with guest Christian music artists in the concert series. The concerts are nondenominational; they are not sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist church even though they are held there.
