Two female ministers are partnering to present Women Arise benefit concert and workshop Friday-Saturday, Aug. 23-24.
The Rev. Kim McLean, a Grammy-nominated songwriter whose songs have been cut by Tim McGraw, Lee Ann Womack and Trisha Yearwood, and former rock-singer- turned-pastor, the Rev. Sherry Cothran of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, will share songs and stories in a concert to benefit Women Arise.
The concert will be held at Homes & Havens, 1404 McCallie Ave., at 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is free, but there is a $10 suggested donation.
Women Arise is an initiative of Harper Hill Global to help women who are victims of violence rebuild their lives. McLean and Cothran have co-written a theme song for the Women Arise movement and it will be performed at the benefit.

McLean, Cothran and Kaysie Strickland, founder of Home & Havens, will lead the workshop on how to use creative writing and design to heal a wounded spirit.
Workshop tickets are $25. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Homes & Havens: Creating Healing Spaces for Women.
