The next performance in the St. Paul Artist Series will be "Angelus ad Virginem: Music for Advent & Christmas Through the Centuries," a candlelight concert sung by Charleston, South Carolina-based a cappella ensemble The King's Counterpoint.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 305 W. Seventh St.

The King's Counterpoint is a professional vocal ensemble that specializes in the performance of sacred and secular music from the Middle Ages through the modern era. Friday's program will be filled with choral music for Advent and Christmas from across the centuries - from the austere beauty of plainsong chant to the ornate joy of the Baroque, from some of the earliest- known compositions to works composed today.

"We are delighted to present this outstanding vocal ensemble in our annual candlelight concert, a seasonal offering we hope will touch everyone's hearts with the spiritual beauty found at this time of year," says Paul Thomas, music director at St. Paul's.
