A concert featuring music by Jewish composers will be presented Sunday afternoon, Jan. 13, at Mizpah Congregation when the Emily Nelson Trio performs "Classical & Popular Music for the Soul."

The trio features Nashville musicians cellist Emily Nelson, violinist Esther Sanders and pianist/composer David M. Rodgers.

The concert will feature the premiere of a new piece by Rodgers commissioned of the trio by Mizpah, as well as Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 and Schoenfeld's "Café Music."

One of the busiest musicians in Music City, Nelson has a resume that reads like a who's who of contemporary music. She has recorded and/or toured with legends like Dolly Parton, Travis Tritt, Alison Kraus, Taylor Swift, Roy Orbison, Smokey Robinson, Imagine Dragons, Mannheim Steamroller, Josh Groban, Michael Buble and Il Divo.

This Music at Mizpah event, presented in the Ochs Memorial Temple sanctuary, is designed to share music of the highest quality in multiple genres in the almost-perfect acoustics of Mizpah's sacred space. Additional parking will be available at Henderson & Gouger CPA, 871 McCallie Ave.

Tickets may be purchased online at mizpahcongregation.org or by calling 423-267-9771.
