I'm Jazzed in Chattanooga will launch a new jazz cabaret series on Saturday, July 20, featuring Atlanta jazz artist Julie Dexter along with the Tom Woods Trio.

The series will be held once a month in July, August and September at the Granfalloon, 400 E. Main St. Doors open at 7:30. Show time is 8 p.m.

Dexter is an award-winning British singer, songwriter and producer considered by many to be one of the most influential female vocalists of her generation. She was honored in 2015 by Black Women in Jazz Awards with the Afro Caribbean Soul of Jazz Award.

Jazz dinner at Davis Wayne’s

Julie Dexter returns to Chattanooga on Saturday, July 27, to launch a new music series at Davis Wayne’s restaurant, 9454 Bradmore Lane in Cambridge Square.An Intimate Evening with Julie Dexter will begin at 7 p.m. It is the first of an “Intimate Evening” series that will be held in the restaurant’s event room, The Wood. Members of Rhyme N Chatt will also entertain.Tickets are $25, which includes hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Guests must be 21 or older. For reservations: www.eventbrite.com.

In 1999, Dexter moved to Atlanta, and launched her own label, Ketch A Vibe Records. In 2000, she released the critically acclaimed EP "Peace of Mind," followed by "Dexterity" (2002), "Conscious" (2005) and "New Again" (2011).

"Moon Bossa," a collaboration with Khari Simmons, was released in 2007 . Single "Ketch A Vibe" was featured in national radio ads for Barack Obama during his campaign for president.

From jazz and soul to world music, Dexter makes it all work on her own terms as an independent artist with an undeniable connection to her audience.

Tickets for the adults-only show are $40, which includes full bar, appetizers and one drink ticket. Dress is "jazz chic," no shorts, T-shirts or flip-flops.
