All styles for all ages: Make Music Chattanooga features dozens of performers

A wealth of Chattanooga's local talent will be on full display Friday, June 21, when Make Music Chattanooga is held at locations from Hixson and Red Bank to St. Elmo.

Bluegrass, pop, classical, jazz, blues, hip-hop, folk, electronic, country and rock will be played by individuals and bands in free performances for all ages.

Make Music Chattanooga is part of Make Music Day, a worldwide celebration of music that started in France and has grown to 120 countries. On June 21 (the Summer Solstice), musicians fill streets, parks and a variety of venues to promote music participation.

Among locations across town where musicians will entertain Friday beginning at 9 a.m. throughout the day are:

» Fiddlers Anonymous, 2248 Dayton Blvd.

» North Shore Fellowship, 118 Woodland Ave.

» OddStory Brewing Co., 336 E. M.L.King Blvd.

» Piano Park on Frazier Avenue near Winder Binder

» The Brew Market, 1510 Riverside Drive

» The Camp House, 149 E. M.L. King Blvd.

» The Tap House, 3800 St. Elmo Ave.

» WanderLinger Brewing Co., 1208 King St.

Among participating musicians will be Amber Fults, Analog Savvy, Andy Tallent, Billy Anne Crews, Buddy Shirk, Craig Kirk Tyndall, Dave King, Dream Collective, Edward Bergin, Emerald Butler, Eric Sander and GMO Sharia Law.

Also, Hara Paper, Jen Niles, Karla Felecia Scaife, Kemo, Kid Cuebas, No One Two Reed Trio, Ryan Oyer, Scott Forbes, Somebody Loves Somebody, Flattop Boxers, The Fruit Ukes and Toke the Poe.

In addition to performances, there will be interactive opportunities for anybody interested in learning a new instrument to try their skill.

Banjo and fiddle classes will be held at Fiddlers Anonymous, 2248 Dayton Blvd., at 1 and 2 p.m., respectively. Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St., will offer music fun for kids and their families at 1 p.m.

The Camp House, 149 E. M.L. King Blvd., will host a harmonica workshop at 4 p.m. Prior to that, Insane Rhythm will teach ukulele workshops at 1 and 3 p.m. at The Camp House.
