Hinck says the installation hanging in the lobby atrium, which he describes as "a shimmer piece called 'All Equations are Wave Equations,'" inspired the work he will play at 2:30 p.m. It is an eight-minute composition commissioned by Hunter Museum.

"I'm calling my piece 'UN/folding' - also the name of Alyson Shotz's entire exhibit - and I wrote it in direct response to Shotz's work. The piece is scored for violin, cello, bassoon, tuba and three iPads," says Hinck.

The composer explains that the musicians and speakers of the sound system have been positioned to create an immersive sound that weaves the audience into a special relationship with Shotz's sculpture hanging above.

Musicians for this performance will be Ben Van Winkle, cellist; Sara Snider Schone, bassoon; Michael Ake, tuba, assisted by four of Hinck's students at McCallie school.

"I'll be conducting the piece. A brief Q&A will follow, as well as time for audience members to explore all of Alyson Shotz's incredible works," Hinck says.

The $15 admission for ages 18 and older includes museum admission. Youth 17 and younger are free.
