The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra will present its spring concert in the C.C. Bond Humanities Theater at Chattanooga State Community College at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2.
The 60-member college-community orchestra includes university music majors and nonmajors from UTC and Chattanooga State, UTC music faculty, area music educators and other talented amateur and professional musicians from the region. The orchestra is conducted by Sandy Morris.
This free concert will feature Concerto in Eb Major by Jan Neruda with Dr. Erika Schafer as the trumpet soloist.
Schafer is UTC associate professor of trumpet and assistant director of bands. She performs with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, is a member of Fuze Trio and is a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Unites States.
Also on the program will be the Overture to La Gazza Ladra ("The Thieving Magpie") by Gioacchino Rossini and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished).
