Nashville rock guitarist Aaron Lee Tasjan will open the 32nd season of Nightfall on Friday, May 3, in Miller Plaza, 850 Market St.

The free Friday night concert series is held rain or shine with a local band opening the show at 7 p.m. followed by the headliner at 8. Oweda will open for Tasjan on Friday.

A new addition to Nightfall will be an art market with art exhibits, working craftspeople and family-friendly activities. Concertgoers should bring a folding chair for seating.

Tasjan, an Ohio native, is the son of two musicians. He taught himself to play guitar at age 11.

By age 16, Tasjan had performed with Peter Yarrow and received the Outstanding Guitarist Award in the Essentially Ellington Competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York City.

He was offered a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music following his high school graduation, but decided to move to Brooklyn, New York, in 2006.

Tasjan's work caught the eye of Drivin' N' Cryin's Kevn Kinney, who later invited Tasjan to tour with him as an opening act and guitar player.

In 2013, Tasjan moved to Nashville to focus on songwriting and a solo career. He has since released two EPs, "Crooked River Burning" and "Telling Stories to the Wall" and two full-length albums, "In the Blazes" in 2015 and "Silver Tears" in 2016.

His latest album is 2018's "Karma For Cheap."
