Raised on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, singer-songwriter Trevor Hall realized at a young age that music was more than just a passion - it was his life's art.

In his elementary years, he began to write his own songs and perform them locally. At 16, he recorded his first album. Soon after that, he left South Carolina for Idyllwild Arts Academy in Los Angeles, where he studied classical guitar. While there, he was introduced to the practices of yoga and meditation, which would greatly influence his life and his music.

During his senior year at Idyllwild, Hall was signed by Geffen Records.

Hall moved into a traditional Hindu ashram in Southern California in 2008. When not on tour, he lived as a monk and devoted his days to spiritual practice and service. His involvement with the temple affected his music.

Hall's blend of roots and folk music is imbued with a deep love of Eastern mysticism. His music – an eclectic mix of acoustic rock, reggae and Sanskrit chanting – echoes with the names and teachings of divinities while maintaining an incredibly and refreshingly universal message.

His previous full-length album releases, 2014's "Chapter of the Forest" and 2015's "KALA," debuted at No. 3 and No. 2, respectively, on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart.

Beyond his intention to spread love and healing through music, Hall collects donations at his live shows to support an ashram in Allahabad, India, the home of his Guru, where underprivileged and orphaned boys and girls are given the chance at a better life and an education.

His 2017 album, "The Fruitful Darkness," was Hall's first independent release after more than a decade recording for established labels such as Geffen and Vanguard.

"There have been many hurdles and triumphs along the way" he reflects. "This album conveys the deep vulnerability of journeying through the unknown, as opposed to playing it safe."

Hall brings his unique musical sound to Chattanooga on Saturday, May 11, for an 8:30 p.m. show at The Signal, 1810 Chestnut St.
