An afternoon of American music is in store when MidSouth Symphonic Band presents its spring concert on Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m in the Volkswagen Conference Center, 8001 Volkswagen Drive.

Jim Souders will conduct the free concert.

The program will celebrate America's heritage with numbers such as "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," a medley of tunes from 18th-century Williamsburg, "Fanfare for Justice" and an "American Vision" patriotic arrangement based on "My Country, 'Tis of Thee."

The musicians will play Broadway hits, a tribute to Marvin Hamlisch and novelty number "Tiptoe Through the Tubas."

The MidSouth Symphonic Band is a volunteer community band comprised of about 70 experienced musicians from around the area. For more information about the group: www.midsouthsymphonicband.com.
