Louis York brings new music to Levitt Amp

Just one week before Louis York's new album "American Griots" is released on Oct. 18, the duo is in Chattanooga to headline Thursday's Levitt Amp concert. The free show starts at 7 p.m. at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E. M.L. King Blvd.

Louis York is the creation of Grammy-nominated songwriting and production duo Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony.

They are known for have penned hits for Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Mary J Blige, John Legend, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston, among others.

Their production company, Weirdo Workshop, is an all-African- American production company based out of Franklin, Tennessee.

"When Louis York first started, we would call ourselves 'The Two Man Earth Wind and Fire' or 'The Black Hall and Oates'" says Harmony. "The track 'Don't You Forget' is an ode to those monikers ... uplifting, catchy soul music."

Louis York is in the process of developing recent signees, The Shindellas, who will open for them tonight.
