Harr, Peel families present free 'Sunday Afternoon at Simpson' concert

Members of the Harr and Peel families will present a concert of vocal and instrumental music in the next Sunday Afternoon at Simpson on Sunday, Oct. 20. The free concert will begin at 3 p.m. in Simpson United Methodist Church, 601 McFarland Ave. in Rossville, Georgia.

Dr. David Harr, James Harr, John Harr, Gerald Peel, Susan Peel, Rae Reta Peel, Shawn Lemon and Jordan Lemon will perform in the concert.

David Harr has been a member of several church choirs and is a former member of the Scenic City Chorale.

James Harr is director of the choral and handbell programs at McCallie School. He has sung with symphonies in St. Louis, Memphis and Chattanooga, with the Chattanooga Bach Choir and Opera Tennessee.

John Harr is a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. He also sings with the Atlanta Opera Chorus and in the chancel choir of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Cumberland at 4 Series

A new concert series starts Sunday, Oct. 20, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 N. Moore Road.Cumberland at 4 will be held at 4 p.m. on eight consecutive Sundays. Gerald Peel is music director at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is founder and director of The Kinge's Quire and inSpirit Men's Chorus, has served as adjunct professor in local university choral departments and plays trombone.

Susan Peel is a pianist. She sings with The Kinge's Quire and is a member of the Southern Adventist University Symphony.

Rae Reta Peel, an organist, has served in that position for several churches as well as directing choirs.

Jordan Lemon is a freshman at Southern Adventist University, plays trombone and is a member of inSpirit.

Shawn Lemon, a senior at Southern Adventist University, is a pianist and member of inSpirit.
