Georgia libraries swap fines for food

The Cherokee Regional Library System's 2011 Food for Fines Campaign, which allows patrons with overdue fines to pay them off with a canned-food item, will continue through the end of business Wednesday.

One food can donation removes up to $1 in overdue fines.

Foods gathered will help restock food banks in Dade and Walker counties in North Georgia.

The Cherokee Regional Library System comprises Rossville, Chickamauga, LaFayette-Walker and Dade County public libraries.
