After several theme weeks and nonprofit fundraisers, Chattanooga Market puts its farmers in the spotlight this Sunday, Aug. 25, during Summerfest in First Tennessee Pavilion.

Market spokeswoman Melissa Siragusa says the market has been averaging about 30 farmers weekly bringing their farm-fresh produce and meats to marketgoers.

"Right now everything is in season. It's the perfect time to stock up if people are interested in canning or freezing vegetables for fall," says Siragusa. "We'll have corn, tomatoes, all kinds of peppers, beans, cucumbers, several different squashes, eggplant, and there are still some peaches at the market. There's a really cool Red Ruby corn that Sweet Valley Farms in Murfreesboro has that is not only beautiful but really tasty and sweet."

Singer/songwriter Jordan Halquist will entertain marketgoers at 12:30 p.m. He started singing at age 3, picked up his first instrument at 10 and has continued to make music since. His style of entertaining encompasses Americana, blues, rockabilly and classic rock.

Onstage at 2 p.m. is Joy Ike, a Pittsburgh-based singer/songwriter who has been compared to Corinne Bailey Rae, Norah Jones and Regina Spector.
