Moccasin Bend bike rides start today

The scenery of the Moccasin Bend National Archaeological District is among the draws as Outdoor Chattanooga and Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park partner for monthly historical bike rides, starting tonight, May 8, at 6 p.m. Another ride is scheduled Thursday, June 12. The free rides include guides to relate the history of the area and plans for its future. Rides begin at Outdoor Chattanooga at the base of the Walnut Street Bridge in Coolidge Park, 200 River St. Participants (adults and accompanied children 8 and older) may bring their own bicycles to join in the leisurely rides, which will last about two hours and cover about five miles of flat to moderately hilly terrain. A limited number of loaner bicycles will be available at no charge for riders at least 5 feet tall. To reserve a bike, call 423-643-6888. All participants are encouraged to wear helmets, and helmets are required for participants 16 and younger.
